So for my second Star Wars/Kenner Mini-Rig I went with the MTV-7 which is actually a rig I own (admittedly I bought it from a 2nd hand store several years back rather than still having it from my child hood but y’know…)

I went in to this with mixed feelings. I was really happy with what I’d done with the CAP-2 and so was feeling a wee bit confident but I also knew how stupidly difficult the wheel/legs would be and that worried me.

What I found, in part, with the CAP-2 construction and even more so with this was that it’s easier to go large at first and then once I got a working construct I’d start scaling down and chipping away until the rig looked to have the right portions. That all being said, I ended up going with a slightly different design on this one to get it all to work.

This was the only way I could get the legs to fold out correctly. I’ve seen some other Lego MTV-7’s online but felt (and hey, I could be wrong) that they didn’t look that sturdy or would be able to keep the legs in the raised position if you put some pressure on the top of the rig.

I also went with a slightly odd width of five bricks but I felt it just looked better. 4 bricks wide was too slim and 6 was too bulky – also it pretty much matches in size of the original MTV-7! I’m pretty chuffed with that!

Still, the legs aren’t perfect and it’s something I’m going to keep working on and try to improve (fingers crossed Lego will release a new piece or two that will help with this!)

If and when the time comes that I’m successful with this I’ll be sure to post about it that’s for sure!

More soon! Bear hugs!
